UPDATE: Crews in Monongalia County worked for nearly five hours this morning to clean a fuel spill on the Star City Bridge.

The Star City Fire Chief said an abrupt stop at the light at the Boyers Avenue intersection caused a portable fuel tank to leak on the road.

Crews prevented oil from getting into storm drains and from entering the Monongahela River.

The Monongalia County HAZMAT unit and Ryan Environmental responded with the Star City fire and police departments.

ORIGINAL STORY: MECCA 911 is reporting a fuel spill at the Sheetz location off of the Star City Bridge. Fire fighters were called to the scene around 7:30 Wednesday morning.

The right turning lane from Monongahela Boulevard turning towards CVS is closed.

Star City Volunteer Fire Fighters are on scene and have called HAZMAT and the Environmental Protection Agency.
