A three-vehicle collision along I-68 in Monongalia County Friday night killed two people.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Christopher McClure, 28, of Fairmont, was driving a 2007 Ford Explorer the wrong direction on I-68 between mile markers 1 and 4. McClure was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.
McClure side swiped a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Charles Custer, 25, of Morgantown. Custer received medical attention at the scene and was released.
After side swiping the Jetta, McClure then hit a 2015 Subaru head on, driven by Adrianna Cole, 20, of Morgantown.
Cole and McClure were pronounced dead on scene.
The collision is still under investigation, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office at 304-291-7260.
The accident happened about one mile before the Sabraton exit in the eastbound lanes.
Little information has been released at this time, but according to deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, three vehicles were involved. No further information has been released on the incident. Monongalia County EMS was also at the scene.
One westbound lane reopened as of 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
