Adam Bowers was found guilty on the following four counts Thursday afternoon: two counts of first degree sexual assault, one count of burglary and one count of first degree robbery, according to Harrison County Prosecutor Rachel Romano.

The trial for a man accused of sexually assaulting an elderly woman continued Wednesday in Clarksburg.

Adam Bowers is accused of the 2001 crime after DNA evidence implicated him 12 years later.

Prosecutors called witnesses to support the DNA evidence and to share Bowers’ testimony when first interviewed about the crime.

Defense attorneys countered that evidence, questioning some results of the DNA test.

They also say Bowers may not have committed the crime at all; another man, Joseph Buffey, also pleaded guilty to charges in the incident, and attorneys say that only one man was reported in the assault.
