Thursday evening , West Virginia University introduced a new event which is the “Mountaineer Send-off”
More than 4,500 soon-to-be graduates were able to come together for one last time as the entire Class of 2015. President Gordon Gee greeted the class at the inaugural Thursday evening farewell event. Each student was given an “Oh the Places You’ll go” Dr. Seuss Book.
“This event is basically a big charge, before the charge, from President Gee. He wants us to know that we’re important, he wants us to know that when we leave here, we’re not just a number, but in reality, we’re going to do amazing things, we’re going to be Mountaineers, we’re going to go first,” said Michael Garcia, West Virginia University’s Mountaineer Mascot.
Over the weekend, the University will host a series of individual, personalized ceremonies for each school and college at a variety of venues on the Campus.
