Youth Pony League Baseball in Upshur County will soon have a new home.
The county already has a pony league baseball program for youth 5 to 12. The Upshur County Commission listened to plans Thursday for a new baseball field for kids ages 13 to 15 to call their own.
The property will be located behind the new national guard armory off Brushy Fork Road.
Organizers said the complex will be a great place for youth sports.
“So what we’re trying to establish with the help from the Upshur County Commission is to obtain a piece of land, raise some land and implement a baseball field so that we have a place for our kids to stay home and play. That way they don’t have to leave the county, play in Harrison County, Monongalia County, and we can keep our kids here and have a place to play”, said Chad Spencer, Pony League Baseball board member.
Upshur County Youth Football practice out at Brushy Fork, but doesn’t have a field to call home. Plans are in works for a field to designated at the same complex for games to be played there as well.
