Ryan Decker joined the WBOY staff in May 2018 after graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, with an emphasis in Sports Journalism. After seven months in a dual News/Sports role, Ryan moved into a full-time Sports Reporter role in January 2019.
Ryan is a West Virginia native, and was born and raised in Martinsburg. He played baseball through high school, and it was also in high school that he got started covering sports, which he’s been doing since 2012.
In college, Ryan rose to be the Sports Director at WWVU-FM. There, he broadcasted WVU baseball and women’s basketball games, including calling multiple games at the Big 12 Baseball Tournament and the Mountaineers’ first NCAA Regional appearance in 20 years Winston-Salem.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys watching sports — rooting for the Mountaineers, Orioles, and Washington Football Team — playing video games, and traveling.
If you have a sports story that you feel needs to be covered, please feel free to contact him through social media, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
