Ryan Decker

Ryan Decker joined the Gold And Blue Nation staff in November 2021 after three years as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, W.Va.

Ryan is a West Virginia native, was born and raised in Martinsburg, and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2018. His degree included an emphasis in Sports Journalism. Ryan played his favorite sport, baseball, through high school, and it was also in high school that he started covering sports, which he’s been doing since 2012.

While at WBOY, Ryan helped oversee the coverage of 26 local high schools and multiple local Division-II college programs. He has covered numerous high school state tournaments, as well as a number of collegiate conferences and NCAA tournament games.

While in college at WVU, Ryan rose to be the Sports Director at WWVU-FM. There, he broadcasted WVU baseball and women’s basketball games, including calling multiple games at Big 12 Baseball Tournaments and the Mountaineers’ first NCAA Regional appearance in 20 years in Winston-Salem, NC in 2017. It was also during college that Ryan met his fiancé, Kyleigh.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys watching sports — rooting for the Mountaineers, Orioles, and Washington Football Team — playing video games, and traveling.

If you have a sports story that you feel needs to be covered, please feel free to contact him through social media, or email at rdecker@goldandbluenation.com.
