The Rotary Foundation is celebrating Foundation Month by visiting area rotary clubs.
Elkins Rotary members learned more about how their foundation contributions are being used to eradicate polio. Rotary, alongside Global Polio Eradication Initiative, is giving more than $50 million in to help fund worldwide immunization efforts.
“Polio is like whack-a-mole; we get it down and it jumps up somewhere else. Just as long as people aren’t immunized there’s a chance of it coming back. Every club, every member is supposed to donate money to the Rotary Foundation,” said District Rotary Foundation Chair Dave Raese.
Elkins Rotary also celebrated members for years of service and dedication during Monday afternoon’s meeting.
