1 person flown to hospital following single-vehicle accident in Marion County


MARION COUNTY, W.Va.- One person was flown via helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Marion County.

According to Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, the accident involved a Jeep and happened on Bunners Ridge Road, just before 4:30 a.m.  

Officials said that only one person was in the Jeep when the accident occurred.

The driver hit a tree and became entrapped in their car. Emergency officials used extraction tools to open the driver side door and rescue the driver, according to fire fighters. The driver was then transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital via a HelthNet helicopter, 911 officials said.

Marion County Rescue Squad, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and Winfield Volunteer Fire Department all responded. State Police is investigating the incident.

There is no word on the patient’s injuries at this time.
