HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. (WBOY) – The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the woman who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Shinnston on Sunday.

The driver of the motorcycle, Chelsea Dodd, age 29, died at the hospital as a result of her injuries. Her passenger, 54-year-old Timothy Sendling, was also taken to the hospital; his injuries are unknown at this time, according to the sheriff’s department.

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WBOY) – Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny has confirmed to 12 News that one person was killed in an accident involving a motorcycle on Sunday afternoon near Shinnston.

Matheny told 12 News that the motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle. Both the motorcycle driver and passenger were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. While in the hospital, the driver died from her injuries.

Matheny said that her identity has not been released at this time and that the passenger is still in the hospital and is in serious condition.

No one in the other vehicle was reported injured.

SHINNSTON, W.Va. – According to Harrison County 911, Route 19 has reopened to traffic.

(ORIGINAL STORY 10/9/22 7:40 p.m.):

A two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Harrison County sent two people to the hospital.

The incident happened just before 4:30 along Route 19, south of Shinnston, and involved a motorcycle.

According to Harrison County 911 officials, two patients were taken to United Hospital Center. The medical examiner was called to the scene, as well.

Also on scene were Harrison County EMS, fire departments from Shinnston and Spelter, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police.

Officials closed Route 19 from Gypsy Bridge to Meadowbrook Road until further notice.

There is no word on the status of the patients involved or any details on what caused the wreck.
