70-year-old man killed in Taylor County fire


UPDATE (4/12/18 at 4 p.m.):

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office said a 70-year-old man was killed in the fire on Mitchell Road in the Webster area of Taylor County Monday.


A man was killed in a fire in Taylor County Monday evening, according to 911 officials.

Officials said the man died in a fire that began at approximately 5:15 p.m. at a residence on Mitchell Road, 911 officials said. The man was living in an apartment attached to a barn, according to the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department.

The Grafton, Flemington, Fellowsville and Philippi Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with Taylor County EMS and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the fire.
