Elkins man killed in bicycle accident in Massachusetts

An Elkins man died after being involved in a bicycle accident in Massachusetts.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Main Road and Route 2 in Gill, Massachusetts.  Michael Stennes, 57, of Elkins was injured in a collision with a vehicle, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.  The office said Stennes died Sunday morning.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Montague, Massachusetts man, was issued motor vehicle citations for negligent operation, failure to yield, and unlicensed operation, based on the Gill Police Department’s preliminary investigation, according to the district attorney’s office.

State and local police are continuing to investigate what led to the deadly crash.
