Emergency crews recover body from Monongahela River


Clarksburg Police said a body was found Monday morning in Marion County. 

The body was found at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the Monongahela River, according to police. Several emergency crews were searching the river when the body was found. 

The body was recovered from the river and will be sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification, police said. 

According to police, the following emergency crews were participating in the search: Clarksburg Police Department, Clarksburg Fire Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Bridgeport Police Department, Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport Emergency Management Department, Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Harrison County Emergency Squad, Harrison County 911, Spelter Volunteer Fire Department, Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Department, Shinnston Volunteer Fire Department, Marion County Office of Emergency Management, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Rescue Squad, Fairmont Fire Department, Fairmont Police Department, Worthington Volunteer Fire Department, Monongah Volunteer Fire Department, Rivesville Volunteer Fire Department, Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department, Monongalia County Office of Emergency Management, Monongalia County Emergency Squad, State of West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Army Corps of Engineers, Mountaineer Area Rescue Group, Grafton Fire Department K9 Unit, American Red Cross and multiple K9 Search and Rescue Groups.
