One person was taken to the hospital after a motorcycle pursuit ended in a crash early Wednesday morning in Bridgeport.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy in the Wilsonburg area of Harrison County noticed a motorcycle driving recklessly.
The deputy attempted to pull the motorcycle over, but the operator fled leading the deputy on a pursuit.
The Clarksburg Police Department attempted to assist when the motorcycle was driving through downtown. However, the pursuit ended in a crash around 1:30 a.m. when the motorcycle collided with another deputy’s cruiser at the end of the Jerry Dove Drive exit on Interstate 79.
The deputy was not injured, but the motorcycle operator was taken to United Hospital Center by the Harrison County Emergency Squad. There is no word on his condition at this time.
Since a sheriff’s deputy was involved in the crash, the Bridgeport Police Department will be investigating.
The man is expected to face charges regarding this incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
