UPDATE: 1 man dead, 1 woman injured in collision on Route 50 Sunday afternoon

UPDATE (5/24/21 11:38 a.m.):

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed one death in a vehicle collision on May 23.

The incident happened at approximately 2:07 p.m. at the intersection of Route 50 and Jarvisville Road, and it involved a motorcycle and a car.

The driver of the motorcycle, Mark Engler, of New Jersey, died in the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. A female passenger on the motorcycle was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital. There is no word on her name or condition.

Both lanes of traffic eastbound and westbound were closed until approximately 4 p.m, the sheriff’s office said.


ORIGINAL STORY (5/23/21 4:02 p.m.):

Two people are in critical condition after an accident in Harrison County Sunday afternoon.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department said a Subaru SUV and a motorcycle collided with each other at the intersection of Jarvisville Road and Route 50.

A man and a woman riding the motorcycle were both transported to area hospitals; the woman by helicopter to Ruby and the man by ambulance to United Hospital Center.

The driver of the SUV was reported to be OK.

Harrison County EMS and the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the accident.
