UPDATE (7/5/18 2:33 p.m.):

Maryland State Police confirmed that two people are now dead after sustaining injuries in a vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon.  Police said a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were killed in that incident.

Police have not released their names.


A single vehicle rollover accident Tuesday afternoon left one juvenile dead and others seriously injured.

According to Maryland State troopers, a vehicle traveling on I-68 East near Sand Springs Rd. rolled over onto the right shoulder. 

The driver, Crystal Adams of Morgantown, lost control of the vehicle, hit an embankment and rolled over several times.

Police said of the six passengers in the vehicle, four passengers were juveniles and five passengers were ejected from the vehicle. 

A 13-year-old died from injuries while being taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. All others were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

Friendsville Fire Department, State Highway Administration and Garrett County Rescue Squad  responded.

The Maryland State Police are investigating the incident.
