A 19-year-old woman from Marion County is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 79.
911 officials said it happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night near mile marker 138.
Sheriff Jim Riffle of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department said the woman was heading south when her vehicle crossed the median and collided with a vehicle heading north. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle a 25-year-old woman from Monongalia County was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. There is no word on her condition.
The names of those involved are not being released at this time.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and White Hall Police are investigating.

Marion County 911 officials have confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency crews responded to a multiple vehicle accident on I-79 Tuesday evening.
The two-vehicle accident happened on I-79 northbound near mile marker 138, according to Marion County 911 dispatchers.
One patient was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, dispatchers said.
There’s no word on what caused the accident. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department will handle the investigation.
