UPDATE: Deputies release the name of the person killed in motorcycle accident in Morgantown

UPDATE: (7/23/18 3:24 p.m.):

Deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department have released the name of the person killed in Friday’s motorcycle accident in Morgantown.

Deputies said that the passenger, Kaylen Garlow, 21, of Fairmont died as a result of her injuries from the accident.

Deputies also said that the driver, Jeremy Hoopengardener, 24, of Morgantown sustained minor injuries. There is no word on his condition at this time.


One person has died after a single-motorcycle accident early Friday morning in Morgantown.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, the call came in shortly after midnight for a motorcycle that crashed in front of the Hampton Center on Stewartstown Road.

Crews from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, Monongalia County EMS, and Star City Volunteer Fire Department all responded on scene.

Deputies say that the passenger of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained minor injuries, according to deputies.
