Catholic Charities West Virginia will be hosting the Eighth Annual Race for Hope, and preparations are underway for the regional event on May 5.
The race features a half marathon and a 5k walk/run on the Allegheny Highlands Bike Trail. The event averages about 55 runner and walkers, and organizers said they are hoping more families and children get involved in this year’s event.
“Through this fundraiser, this year, we are trying, also, to encourage families to look at not just healthy eating but look at exercise and togetherness and things like that in regards to participating in this race and hopefully other races, also,” said Weston Regional Director Teresa Wymer.
The race will be the largest fundraiser for Catholic Charities and will help the organization fund food and wellness programs.
