School begins Tuesday for students in Barbour County, and one local organization wants to make sure vaccinations are up-to-date.
Barbour County Health Department, alongside other community health organizations, hosted a Back-to-School Tailgate Party to give families one last chance to get vaccinations done before school begins. Booths were set up to educate students on making healthy choices throughout the school year.
“Good health starts early. The better the kids are adopting good habits now, the better they’ll be as adults. We’re just trying to get the whole community involved, and we want kids to be able to get their back to school vaccinations before tomorrow,” said BCHD Administrator Annette Santilli.
Immunization requirements have changed; seventh and 12th-grade students are required Tdap and Meningitis vaccinations.
