An organization that helps veterans return to civilian life received a funding boost on Wednesday.

Dominion Energy donated $50,000 to Operation Welcome Home.

The money will support job skills training, hiring events, peer counseling and mentorship programs.

“In hopes that we can be a little bit apart of giving back to the veterans and to helping them find gainful employment,” said Christine Mitchell of Dominion Energy.

“We could not again do the things we do without the support like that and we’re really excited that Dominion looks at Operation Welcome Home and sees an opportunity for an organization that’s providing a great service to continue to do it and do it in even bigger ways,” said Jamie Summerlin of Operation Welcome Home.

Sixty non-profits submitted proposals for funding with 11 of them receiving more than half a million dollars combined.
