With the warmer weather comes a perfect time to walk the dog, but there might be greater dangers for them underneath their fur.
West Virginia veterinarians are warning of a severe flea and tick season for this year. Dr. Matthew Faulkner of Fayette Veterinarian Hospital says the abnormally warm weather we are experiencing in February makes it more hospitable for them to survive year round.
“There’s been so much variation on the season with the warmer temperatures,” Faulkner said. “That allows those guys just to go right on through winter and continue their life cycles.”
Faulkner highly recommends in routinely applying a topical product, like Frontline Plus, to your pet and using area treatment, like Knockout, for your home.
