The 34th annual Salem Apple Butter Festival is underway.
This year’s festival consists of entertainment from American Idol contestant Colton Dixon, a 5K race, car show, grand feature parade, arts and crafts and concessions.
Chairman Gary Martin said community volunteers help make this festival possible.
“Well, the community of course is tight, but so is the committee, and they’re all community people,” said Martin. “It’s 100% volunteer. This is all done by volunteers. There’s nobody on any payroll, no salary, including myself. It’s all volunteer. That’s how tight the community is.”
The festival runs through Sunday.
