BRIDGEPORT, W.Va.- On Tuesday, All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport held a Harrison County Community Conversation on Substance Abuse.
The event was sponsored by the Harrison County Family Resource Network, Prevention Partnership, and All Saints Catholic Church. The event is to allow the community gain knowledge about the substance abuse situation in the area, and the available resources for those suffering with addiction. A resource hour allowed people to speak one-on-one with addiction specialist.
“It’s for families, and for persons that are having trouble with substance abuse disorder also. There are treatment facilities here, there are resources for grandparents, aunts, and uncles, there are resources for children, the whole gamete of the problem,” said Ellen Condron, All Saints Catholic Church Parish Nurse.
Updates were given on the issues of substance abuse, marijuana uses and misuses, and the effects of opioids on children. Condron stated if overdoes deaths keep going up and the drug of choice keeps changing that there will be a need for community substance abuse conversations.
