Antero Resources donates $84K to area children’s charities

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Antero Resources employees presented an $84,000 donation to HOPE, Inc. and the Harrison County CASA Program Thursday, following the recent Hats, Hearts & Horses Kentucky Derby Gala.

The event was held earlier this month at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport.  The annual charitable event, which is co-presented by Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC, has raised more than $200,000 for local charities over the past four years.

“Antero is deeply committed to working alongside and supporting local charities that promote the wellbeing of West Virginia families,” said Al Schopp, Antero’s chief administrative officer and regional senior vice president.  “We are blessed by a community of partners with caring and generous hearts, with whom we have collaborated to accomplish significant outcomes for local, charitable causes.  Without the support of our employees, along with our valuable contractor and vendor partnerships, events like this would not be possible.  HOPE, Inc. and CASA provide vital services for victims of abuse, and we are honored to support their missions,” Schopp said.

This year’s gala, which drew more than 200 people, featured a Kentucky Derby watch party, a bourbon tasting, live music and a silent auction and other games.  Representatives from both HOPE, Inc. and the Harrison County CASA Program gave presentations on their organizations’ missions at the event.

“We’re grateful for Antero’s continued and strong support for kids across our region, which extends beyond this annual event,” said Harrison County CASA Program Director Alisha Madia.  “Our volunteer-driven organization helps to ensure quality advocacy for every abused and neglected child in the Harrison County Court System.  This incredibly generous donation will help us connect volunteers with the children that need a voice in our community,” Madia said.

“For the more than 900 individuals we serve annually across our five-county region, this donation helps us carry-out our mission to make sure victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking have access to services that secure their safety,” said HOPE, Inc. Executive Director Michele McCord.  “We take a holistic approach, providing housing for victims and offering a wide range of services, including a 24-hour hotline and legal advocacy.  Many of these issues can be complex, and we’re thankful for this tremendous level of support from Antero, it’s employees and contractors,” McCord said.
