The courthouse lawn in downtown Philippi has been taken over by uniquely decorated Christmas trees just in time for Friday’s parade.

Philippi will be kicking off “A Covered Bridge Christmas” with a parade, tree lighting, craft show, and a full list of holiday festivities.  Mayor Phil Bowers says the trees and community participation reminds him of how the season was when he was young.

“Philippi was always a great Christmas spot when I was growing up, and a lot of our committee members remember that.  We just wanted to bring some of that experience back to the downtown area.  Parents can actually park, get real close, and let the little kids really experience it,” said Bowers.

The parade begins Friday at 7 p.m., tree lighting and meeting with Santa to follow.  Find a full list of events for the holidays here.
