Local children had their chance to show off their basketball skills in Philippi Saturday.
Alderson Broaddus University held its second Jr, NBA Skills Challenge.
Participants demonstrated their ability to weave through cones and put the ball in the basket, while being scored on their attempts.
Current Battlers athletes were there to help with the Challenge.
This year’s Challenge was hosted by GLOgames and New Vision.
They are in the process of getting similar competitions set up throughout the state.
“The challenge is about just getting kids out and learning to do sports and recreational type of things. It’s sponsored by Under Armour, in terms of things. And just getting kids into basketball, used to basketball, and learning, and just seeing how our kids are growing,” said Stephen Iwunor, the local host for the Jr. NBA Skills Challenge.
Future cites could include Morgantown and Charleston.
