Barbour County is one of many which have been hit hard this year by multiple flooding and heavy rainfall issues.
In the last weeks, several instances of high water, road closures, and water damage have been reported by residents. Officials with the Barbour County Office of Emergency Management and 911 Center said this year has seen more water rescues than years past.
“We’ve never had people being rescued from their houses like we’ve had in the previous weeks. There’s been areas of the county that have flooded that I’ve never seen flood before. Watch the weather. If it is calling for a bunch of rain, just prepare yourselves,” said Barbour County 911 Deputy Director Cory Cox.
Officials said residents should be aware of the weather, stay safe, and use good judgment when water begins to rise.
