Barbour County officials are looking ahead to the next holiday season and already planning downtown Christmas decorations.
The Barbour County Courthouse Square looks a little bare now but in a few short weeks will be light up with decorated trees just in time for “A Covered Bridge Christmas” celebration. More than 100 trees will be added to Philippi as part of a fairly new holiday tradition that brings the community together.
“It’s not just the city providing something it’s each individual organization or person providing something for that celebration. As we buy into changing our community, this is a part of it, as we all pull together,” said Philippi Mayor Phil Bowers.
119 Trees will be installed and can be decorated between November 15 and 29.
