Philippi appoints Jeremy Drennen as new city manager

The city of Philippi has announced the appointment of a new city manager following the recent retirement of former City Manager Karen Weaver.

Philippi City Council has appointed Jeremy Drennen, of Philippi, as its new city manager. Drennen’s appointment took effect on Thursday, January 3.

“It’s an honor to be appointed Philippi’s city manager, Drennen says. “I am truly looking forward to working with the Mayor, City Council and all employees to serve the citizens of the city of Philippi.”

Drennen is a certified public accountant, and studied at West Virginia University. Drennen has also been Philippi’s Director of Finance since 2013, and was appointed Assistant City Manager in February of 2018.
