Philippi’s holiday committee brings residents downtown

A few short months before the holiday a committee was formed to bring Christmas cheer back to downtown Philippi in Barbour County.

Philippi has been buzzing with activity all through December with tree lighting, house decorating, a Christmas parade and much more. Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. downtown and surrounding streets will be filled with Christmas carolers.

“We will still be doing some caroling on Main Street, but we are hoping to go to North Philippi perhaps over to the shopping center and places like that and help spread the Christmas cheer,” said Crim Memorial United Methodist Church Reverend Samuel Haught.

The committee is dedicated to drawing a crowd for activities and is working toward having a month full of holiday activities for many years to come.
