The Council passed a final authorization on the purchase of 5.5 acres of land near route 131, within the city of Bridgeport.
Located across from the entrance to the outdoor rec center, empty barns currently sit on on the property. The council had been discussing the purchase since last year.
The acquisition of the space will provide the council with many opportunities to utilize it for the improvement of Bridgeport.
Bridgeport Mayor Andy Lang is hopeful about the possibilities of the land. “Once it’s cleared of the old barns and developed, we could use it for overflow parking. We also have some reasons for the city workers to be able to use that area down there for possible long term storage of seasonal type items. So your gonna probably see some barns down and some construction here in the future.”
The closing of this purchase will happen Wednesday, February 28th.
