Small business advocate encouraging digital security

The Small Business Development Center is encouraging small businesses to defend themselves better online.

The West Virginia High Technology Foundation hosted the last in a series of workshops designed to increase awareness of online threats.

Presenters said small business owners need someone to do more than fix things when they break.

“You don’t want somebody that will only come and fix things when they break, but will help you understand the protections you need to be secure, and there’s a lot of good local IT resources for that, said presenter Chris May with Advantage Technology.

May suggests contacting a local SBDC office to find resources for securing data with small businesses.
