Tucker County Animal Shelter has been competing for a $5,000 donation in Petplan’s Tournament of Tails.
Emma, a three-year-old cat, will be representing the shelter in this year’s competition.
Volunteer Margaret Brown said this competition will be a great way to raise some extra money, but the goal is finding a permanent home for Emma and the other shelter animals.
“The shelter would definitely benefit from any money that could be raised. We have had a lot of neglect cases we’ve had to take in this year, and that has led to a lot of vet bills that we didn’t anticipate. So, we could definitely use any funds that we could get. We have had lots of cats in our shelter that have been here for multiple years, including Emma,” said Brown.
Voting for Emma begins Wednesday and the shelter will be offering free adoptions for cats over a year old during the month of March to encourage pet lover’s involvement.
