Clarksburg Community Action prepares for its first community event

News

One new organization sees strength in numbers.

Clarksburg Community Action is a new organization that hopes to make all residents feel like there is something they can do to get involved.

The mission of Clarksburg Community Action is to make Clarksburg a cleaner, healthier, and safer place.

The organization meets weekly at the VA Park in Clarksburg.

The first community event is set for Sunday, August 26 and is a clean up event on West Pike Street.

“We really want to focus on building social capital and finding out the resources and other organizations that already exist in this city and bringing them to light to help everybody find everything that they need whether its better safety, an area cleaned up, we want to do everything,” said Jerry Riffle, communications director.

Clarksburg Community Action’s Facebook page provides more details for Sunday’s event.

Robert C. Byrd High School’s football team will be volunteering in the clean up.

The organization said it expects more than 100 community members to be in attendance.
