The Harrison County Commission signed a resolution on Wednesday to promote a new roadway.
The commission heard from community members advocating for a new road from Enterprise to White Hall.
There is currently a closed, gravel road in the area and the community members have contacted Governor Justice to have this road selected for the Roads to Prosperity program.
The members already have support from Shinnston, Lumberport, Worthington, White Hall, Farmington and Mannington.
“It would be absolutely straight over to Route 73 which is about three minutes instead of going all the way around Manley Chapel,” said Virginia Rockwell, community member.
In other business, commission also approved a motion to share the cost of a new sound system in a circuit courtroom with the West Virginia Supreme Court. The commission will provide a little more than $10,000 for the new system. Judges said the system is crucial for parties to be heard while in court.
