A Baltimore man was arrested Tuesday in Westover on a malicious assault charge, according to the Westover Police Department.
On Tuesday, an officer was dispatched to a Westover home after a caller reported a stabbing, according to a criminal complaint. Before arriving at the scene, the officer was informed that a man matching the description of Zachary Nipper, 26, Baltimore, Maryland, had left the house, according to police.
Upon arriving at the Westover home, the officer saw a woman with a kitchen knife protruding from the upper back of her head and a small cut on her wrist, according to a criminal complaint. The woman was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital’s emergency room for treatment, according to police. According to the complaint, Nipper choked the woman’s child, at which point the woman stepped in for defense.
Nipper, upon being taken into custody by police, refused to identify himself, caused destruction to the interior of the arresting officer’s vehicle, and he refused to cooperate during processing, according to the complaint.
Officers later found out Nipper’s name and also discovered that he was wanted in Baltimore with surrounding state extradition, according to the complaint.
