BELINGTON, W.Va. – A Barbour County man has been arrested after deputies said he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
Barbour County Sheriff’s deputies said that on Thursday, April 25, they were notified of a reported sexual assault crime against a 14-year-old girl. Deputies then contacted the Harrison County Child Advocacy Center to conduct a forensic interview with the reported victim on the following day.
During the interview, deputies said the girl stated she was at a holiday dinner at her grandmother’s residence in Barbour County when Darren Wyatt, 27, of Belington touched her inappropriately.
Wyatt was arrested on Friday, May 31 and has been charged with third degree sexual assault, according to court documents. He is currently in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.
