A Braxton County man has been arrested following the shooting death of his ex-wife.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Braxton County 911 received a call from a man who identified himself as John Carroll Jr., 56, of Sutton who said he shot his wife, Donna Carroll, in the head. John Carroll then told 911 officials that he wanted law enforcement to kill him and bury him next to his wife, troopers said.
State Police also said that the suspect’s son had called 911 and said that he had seen his mother, the deceased, with a hole in her head.
Troopers then said they arrived on scene and encountered John Carroll, who was holding a rifle, at the intersection of the road and the driveway of the residence.Troopers said they told John Carroll to drop the gun, but he then pointed the rifle at the officers.
After exchanging gun fire, troopers said they were then able to take John Carroll into custody.
Troopers then said they discovered the body of Donna Carol in front of the residence covered by a blanket. According to troopers, Donna Carroll was John Carroll’s ex-wife.
John Carroll has been charged with second degree murder.
