A Harrison County woman was arrested early Tuesday morning on child abuse charges after allegedly causing multiple injuries to a child.

According to the Bridgeport Police Department, officers responded to a domestic dispute call involving Jami Coles, 31, of Bridgeport.

According to police, when they responded to Coles’ home on Sycamore Circle in Bridgeport, they heard her screaming, saying that someone was going to “kill a young family member and turn them into a cat.”

Prior to the call, officers said that Coles tried to hit and bite one family member while she got ahold of the young family member, which caused injuries to their neck, ribs and shoulder.

Witnesses told the police that Coles appeared “mentally unstable during the entire time.”

Coles was arrested and charged with child abuse with injury.
