Charges reduced in Randolph County shooting case

Crime

Vanessa Logan appeared in court on Monday morning in Randolph County for a preliminary hearing following allegations of her shooting and killing Spencer Zoller.

Logan was initially charged with one felony count of first-degree murder, which was reduced to one felony count of second-degree murder.  Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Parker cited insufficient evidence of premeditation prior to the start of the hearing.

Two Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Sgt. Talkington and Deputy Pingley gave testimony during the preliminary proceedings; Magistrate Rob Elbon found probable cause, and Logan’s case will be moving forward to the Randolph County Circuit Court.  Logan’s bond has been set at $150,000 cash-only.
