Recently Clarksburg Police were able to issue an order of abatement to an owner-occupied property because of the city’s Crime-Free Rental Housing Drug House Ordinance.
Police said the new ordinance, along with help from the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, allows the department to actually provide neighbors with action in their communities.
Clarksburg Police Department Chief Robert Hilliard said neighbors know when elicit activity occurs.
“Well, you would know if you reside in a neighborhood of unusual activity. You know they are not barbecuing. If someone is just coming in and out, a lot of traffic, and is only staying two to three minutes and different people throughout the day and night you would recognize that unusual activity,” explained Hilliard.
Hilliard encourages anyone with tips to call the Clarksburg Police Department.
WBOY will hear from residents in North View Wednesday, April 11 to learn how communities benefit from the city’s new ordinance.
