A Monongalia County hotel was robbed early Tuesday morning, according to deputies.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were dispatched to the Comfort Inn off of Grafton Road for an armed robbery at approximately 1:52 a.m.
Deputies interviewed the female clerk and determined that the robber was a black man wearing gloves and a black sweatshirt. He reportedly jumped over the front counter and pointed a small, black handgun at the clerk and demanded money, deputies said.
The clerk complied with the robber’s demands, deputies said, and gave him an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The robber, then, exited the building on foot, and the clerk was unable to see which direction he went in, deputies said.
The clerk also told deputies that the robber had a foreign accent.
No one was injured during the incident, deputies said.
Deputies will continue the investigation.
