The Fairmont Police Department have arrested a Fairmont woman on child neglect charges.
According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Taylor Ebert, 35, of Fairmont in the parking lot of the Avenue Motel. At the time, Ebert was not wearing her seatbelt in the passenger’s seat, police said.
During the investigation, Ebert requested if she could be allowed access to her apartment located at the Avenue Motel, police said. Officers said that Ebert wished to grab items for her child. Officers also said that while inside her apartment, they observed burned tin foil in the trash can next to her doorway, which officers knew from prior investigations, is commonly used to smoke controlled substances off of tin foil. Officers then conducted a search warrant.
During this search, officers said they found a vial of Naloxone (Narcan), multiple pieces of foil (burned & new), two glasses of marijuana and three plastic stems/straws with cut/burned ends and needles. Police also said they found an infant’s bulb syringe aspirator. The aspirator was exposed to the drug paraphernalia and was easily accessible for the child, officers said.
Ebert has been charged with child neglect.
