Fairmont resident accused of shooting man in the abdomen

Fairmont Police arrested a man after a shooting incident back in March.

On March 18, police said Jason Jones, 33, of Fairmont, fired eight rounds from a 9mm pistol at another man.  The man was hit in the abdomen by gunfire in the incident, which happened in the 300 block of Adams St., according to police.

Police said Jones is prohibited from possessing a firearm after a prior conviction in Marion County for attempted first degree murder in March 2010.

Jones is charged with attempted first degree murder and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.  He is in North Central Regional Jail.
