A Fairview man has been arrested on a sexual abuse charge after deputies said he performed sexual acts on an 11-year-old girl multiple times in 2016.
On January 10, 2019, detectives attended a forensic interview of a 14-year-old girl, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the girl disclosed multiple incidents of sexual assault and abuse by Michael Ammons, 63, while living at his residence in Monongalia County.
On March 1, 2019, Ammons was interviewed by detectives in reference to the allegations made by the girl in January. Ammons confirmed that the girl had lived with him at his residence in Monongalia County, according to deputies. Ammons also admitted that he touched the girl on her genitals and performed oral sex on her multiple times while she was under his care. Deputies said these incidents occurred during the summer/fall of 2016 when the girl was 11 years old.
Ammons has been charged with sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or other person in position of trust to a child, according to court documents. He is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail. His bail has been set at $25,000.
