A former Marion County couple was arrested after allegedly setting fire to their house in 2017.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office arrested Christopher Metheny, 35, and Brittany Metheny, 26, and charged them with arson and fraudulent claims to an insurance company.

Officials said the Methenys started a fire in the living room of their May Street home on December 12.

After officials determined that the fire was intentionally set, they conducted an investigation and found that Christopher Metheny went back to the fire scene at a later date to place valuable items at the scene and filed an insurance claim.
