Harrison County man arrested after Shinnston stabbing

A Harrison County man has been arrested after police said he stabbed another man in Shinnston on Saturday.

Officers with the Shinnston Police Department said that on Saturday, February 9 between the hours of 5:00 to 5:52 p.m., they were at the police station when they heard someone pounding on the door. Upon answering the door, officers found Michael Vickers, 27, of Meadowbrooke, and another man who stated that Vickers had stabbed a man. Vickers corroborated this statement and admitted to stabbing the man, officers said.

According to police, the stabbing victim was inside a vehicle. The victim exited the vehicle and stated he had been stabbed, officers said. Officers observed an injury consistent with a stab wound on the man, according to a criminal complaint.

Officers then detained Vickers and located multiple edged weapons on Vicker’s person, including a knife with what appeared to be blood on it, according to police. The victim was transported to UHC, officers said. 

Vickers has been charged with malicious wounding, according to a criminal complaint.

One man is in police custody after a stabbing in Harrison County Saturday.

It happened on Pike Street in Shinnston around 5 p.m.

The Shinnston Police Department says the victim was taken to United Hospital Center for treatment and was released last night.

The male suspect is facing a malicious wounding charge in the incident.

No word yet on the names of either the suspect or victim.
