A Harrison County man was arrested for possession, among other charges, Tuesday after a police chase, according to a press release from the Bridgeport Police Department.
Richard Gillman, 32, of Salem, fled from Bridgeport Police after being pulled over for suspicious driving, according to the release. During the pursuit, officers discovered the vehicle Gillman was driving had been reported stolen in Monongalia County.
After a chase where Gillman reached speeds of more than 100mph, Bridgeport and Clarksburg police officers deployed tire deflation devices on Route 50 (Old Bridgeport Hill), and ran Gillman’s vehicle off the roadway, according to police. Upon taking the driver into custody and searching the vehicle, officers discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car, according to the release.
Currently, Gillman is charged by Bridgeport Police with felony fleeing with reckless indifference and possession of a controlled substance, but additional charges are pending from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, according to the release.
