UPDATE (1/2/18 at 5 p.m.):
John Hess went to his parents’ house after he allegedly killed his wife, Abigail Hess, Saturday.
John Hess’s parents called 911 and told them their son had shot Abigail Hess while she was in bed, and police responded there to pick him up, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department.
John Hess told deputies there was a loaded shotgun at the High Street residence, where his wife’s body was left.
When deputies responded to the High Street residence, they found Abigail Hess dead on arrival in bed. They found the shotgun John Hess said was loaded, along with an empty shotgun shell close to the bed.
UPDATE (12/31/17 at 9 a.m.):
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the alleged shooter and the victim.
John Hess is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Abigail Hess, at 45 High St. in Flemington.
ORIGINAL (12/31/17 at 8:25 a.m.):
According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, a murder took place Sunday morning at approximately 12 a.m. in Flemington.
The victim died on the scene.
The defendant will be transported to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
