A Monongalia County man was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Charles Jones, III, 34, of Wadestown, attempted to shoot a man at the Westside Market in Fairmont, according to the Fairmont Police Department.
Police said the victim, along with staff at the market, asked Jones to leave. When the victim began to walk away from Jones, Jones went back across the parking lot, attacked the victim and grabbed the victim’s pistol, police said.
Jones pointed the pistol into the victim’s ribs, pulled the hammer back and pulled the trigger three times, police said. The weapon would not fire due to it not having percussion caps inserted, according to court documents. However, the pistol did have a full load of powder and bullets, police said.
Jones is charged with attempted murder.
